Hi everyone! Congratulations on starting the first 3rd grade book club at the Davis Academy! We are very excited to start reading with all of you. Here are a few things that you should know before we get started.
1. This is for fun; you do not have to join.
2. You have to read the book to join.
3. We will discuss the book together as a group, so it is best that you read the entire book.
4. It does not cost anything but you should let your parents know.
5. We meet once a month in the media center during lunch. The first day we meet will be Monday, November 7.
6. We provide dessert or a treat that ties in with the book; we usually make you guess so keep that in mind while you are reading.
7. This blog is for you! Comment on the book and share how you feel about the book with your book club friends.
8. You choose the book we read! Be prepared to vote on a book at the end of each meeting

We usually have 6-10 copies of the book in the media center. We will distribute the books we have and put the others on the waiting list. We strongly encourage you to go to the public library if you don’t get the book right away.
The first book is The Amazing Flight of Darius Frobisher by Bill Harley.
When his adventurous father disappears during a hot-air balloon flight, ten-year-old Darius is torn away from his beloved housekeeper and sent to live with an obnoxious aunt. He is miserable until one day he meets a strange bicycle repairman who can possibly build a bicycle that flys! Will Darius ever find his father? Can that strange man make Darius' bicyle fly? Read with us to find out!
If you have any questions, come see us in the media center.
Happy Reading!
